Ten years ago, my son Pete wrote a letter to President Bush as a first grade class assignment following the events of 9/11. He encouraged the President to stand firm in his decisions and closed by asking if he was going to grow a beard or wanted to be on a coin. While my first letter to a standing President was far less entertaining than Pete’s was, I finally feel like I’m even with him in the civic duty department. Perhaps the President’s staff will send me a star.
