Someone brought a website to my attention a few minutes ago,
www.buckeyeinstitute.org. It is an amazing website that will no doubt generate tremendous interest and scorn across the state.
Basically, you can look up the last five year's of salary for any public employee in the state of Ohio. (ie teachers, policemen, firemen, etc.) For teachers, type in a name and it will show you their salary history for the last five years (you can see their increases), their adjusted salary based on a full year of work, and estimated pension benefits based on an assumed eighteen years of collections. It does not show health care benefits.
This raises the transparency on public worker, all-in compensation to an entirely new level, a tremendous positive for taxpayers come election time and a healthy balance to the power of unions at negotiating time.
Enjoy!
